More Info
Fascinated by color, light, and atmosphere, impressionist Claude Monet found expression for these elements in his canvases and his gardens. He spent decades creating a tapestry of hues and textures in the flowers and foliage that surrounded his Giverny home, a living laboratory for the artist to study the ever-changing natural world. Photographer and horticultural designer Elizabeth Murray fell in love with Monet?s gardens on her first visit to the Giverny estate in 1984. She volunteered during its restoration and returns regularly to record the gardens? daily and seasonal transformations. Murray?s firsthand knowledge of the grounds illuminates the vivid photographs and accompanying descriptions in this calendar. Pomegranate also publishes Elizabeth Murray?s book?Monet?s Passion: Ideas, Inspiration and Insights from the Painter?s Gardens?(revised edition, 2010).
